Foster Care ServicesMusic therapy services are an effective form of treatment for children who have been placed into foster care. Music therapy provides a developmentally appropriate way to process feelings related to abuse, neglect, trauma, and feelings of abandonment. Because music is accessible for individuals of all ages, services can be structured to be appropriate for babies needing to work on developmental milestones through teenagers processing their discharge from foster care. Our team provides services for children who are currently placed in a foster home, children who are placed in a group home or temporary housing, and children who are still living at home but receiving support from DCF. Because Infinity covers much of Connecticut, we have been successful in following children when they have changed placements in order to keep services consistent. During music therapy sessions, our clients are actively engaged in music making, song-writing, lyric analysis, drawing to music, and other music-based interventions according to a comprehensive treatment plan. We are an approved vendor with the Department of Children and Families.
