Shane joined Infinity’s team in July 2017. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Therapy with a minor in Psychology from Fredonia State University of New York in 2015. He interned in New York at The Center for Discovery, a community based facility that serves children and adults with significant developmental disabilities and medical needs. Shane has experience working as a professional music therapist providing in-home services to children with developmental disabilities. He is nationally board certified through the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
Shane combines his strong musical capabilities with a client-centered approach to help his clients reach their individualized goals. He utilizes musical improvisation in his work to help individuals with special needs (especially individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder of all ages) to develop functional social skills and positive working relationships. His clinical approach is influenced by the work of Creative Music Therapists. Shane comes to Infinity with a wealth of information on the applications of music therapy with a variety of special needs and developmental disabilities.
Shane’s primary instrument is saxophone which he utilizes in his clinical work as well as guitar, piano, and world percussion. He is very active in advocating for the rights of people with disabilities and is a member of the American Music Therapy Association.
