Telehealth & Online Services
Since our founding in 2010, our team as strived to be LEADERS in healthcare offering high quality and innovative services and programming. We are proud to be able to offer a variety of Telehealth and online services. This service is an excellent option for clients in areas where music therapists are not available and for individuals who are unable to either travel or receive services in-home. All of our regular Telehealth clients also receive a free screening to determine what materials will be utilized in treatment and we will help you get access to these items. For our clients that regularly receive face to face services, our Telehealth services are an excellent option for treatment during inclement weather, travel, and quarantines. We also offer a variety of music lessons for group and individuals on online platforms.
Who we serve
We have Telehealth programs available for children and adults with developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, neurological needs, older adults, pregnant women, and family units. While online services are not an option for everyone, we screen all new clients and evaluate programming regularly to help best utilize your time, finances, and our expertise. We believe in transparency with our clientele and we will always explain the pros and cons of online services and the limitations an online medium may have.
How does it work?
In order to participate in online services, you will need a device with a working camera and microphone. It is preferred that you have the device sitting on a table or other surface so that your hands are free. We use two platforms based upon the type of programming you are enrolled in. For our therapy clients, we utilize a HIPAA compliant platform called Doxy.me. No downloads are necessary. For music lessons and music enrichment, we use Zoom which requires a quick download. We recommend that you have a 15mbps upload speed and 5mbps download speed on broadband internet to participate in online services. Prior to beginning any online services, you will receive tips and tricks to have successful online sessions in addition to our general intake and assessment procedures. For clients that require physical assistance, we will coach their caregivers in how to best support them during online services.
Individual Music Therapy
Individual services delivered through Telehealth can be appropriate for a number of individuals including adults with mental health disorders, children with disabilities, adults in elder care, and more. No previous music experience is needed. A caregiver may or not be necessary to attend sessions with the individual receiving services. You will be screened to determine if online sessions are an appropriate option for you prior to beginning services. Your therapist will help you organize materials to provide the most opportunities for achievement during sessions.
Music Lessons/ Education
Private music lessons on a variety of instruments can be conducted online. We can also design recorder ensembles, choirs, ukulele groups, guitar ensembles, and more from afar. Gather your group and tune in! Through Zoom, we are able to share sheet music right on the screen. We send digital music on a regular basis and can custom design exercises and songs. We also work with individuals with a disability that require adapted lessons.
Pre-Recorded Music Programs
This program is designed with older adults and adults residing in a group home in mind. These programs include live music, discussion, images and more to encourage engagement and reminisce. Unlike a television show, these programs are thematically designed by a board certified music therapist who will structure the music and content according to research based methods. This program can be brought from resident to resident and played over and over again.
Individualized Playlist Interviews
This program is designed with older adults and adults with disabilities in mind. We will conduct an interview with caregivers and the individual complete with interactive signing and music making. Following the interview, we will design a customized playlist that can be used again and again. This service is an excellent stand alone service as well as a partner with our other services.
Family and Friend Sessions
Do you have family members living across the country that you can’t physically get together with? Does your parent live in a nursing home that you can’t visit regularly? This service is designed to help unify families digitally through music. Everyone will log in online and be joined together in live signing, music making, and discussion with a board certified music therapist. A custom playlist of the songs used will be sent to every person in attendance following the visit.
Group Music Therapy
Do you run a group home, school program, day program, or memory care unit? We offer group services online! Circle your residents or students round a television plugged into a device that can access the web and we are good to go! Each session is conducted live which allows us to interact with your residents/ students and lead them in group singing, movement to music, song-writing, and instrument play. We custom build each program according to the participants and available resources.
